The brief

Ray Edwards MBE was the longest surviving quadruple amputee before his passing in 2024. After contracting septicemia in 1987, Ray lost four limbs, and then began a new life with new challenges. A few years later Ray set up the charity 'Limbcare', providing advice and peer support to amputee/limb impaired individuals, communities, families and others impacted around them.

George said "I was always amused by Ray, he was a self-admitted cheeky chap, and despite everything that he was thrown, he clearly excelled in resilience"

Ray Edwards MBE sits on a brown couch, depicted in an oil painting.
